The course involves thirty (30) hours of language work per week through a multi-syllabus, communicative approach highlighting verb forms with past, present and future reference, prepositions and descriptive language through the four skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing. The grammar syllabus is carefully balanced with interesting and motivating skills work.

Upper Intermediate

Universal topics selected from many different sources, together with authentic listening texts provide the basis for the in depth approach to grammar which is a feature of this course. Students are actively involved in understanding the rules governing use of the language, both spoken and written. Systems such as collocation, homonyms and compounds are dealt with in a well defined lexical syllabus and all four skills are integrated and developed through related texts.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate effectively with native speakers, on personal and factual topics, participate in formal discussions, meetings and negotiations, understand printed text on such topics, and write non-technical narratives and description using different expository styles. They will have a high level of grammatical competence and fluency, and be able to take notes and make summaries in lectures and seminars.
