SPANISH INFLUENCE IN TRINIDAD

  • Trinidad and Tobago was influenced by Parang Music. The origin of Parang dates back to the Spanish colonization of Trinidad in 1498. It is still debated how Parang originally came about. Parang is derived from the Spanish word Parranda. Parang is usually associated with Christmas festivities.
  • Many place names in Trinidad have Spanish origin like: San Juan, El Dorado, Sangre Grande.
  • Many foods in Trinidad have spanish origins like Pastelles and Casava Bread.
