Academia ANGELS se dedica a proveer educación de calidad en el campo del inglés como un idioma extranjero. Llevamos a cabo las clases en grupos reducidos (8-10 estudiantes) de manera que cada estudiante pueda recibir la atención y la instrucción que necesita. Usamos un enfoque comunicativo y un programa multi-facético. Además, adaptamos los cursos según las necesidades de los estudiantes.

Los Cursos de Inglés

ANGELS ofrece cuatro niveles de inglés: básico, intermedio, intermedio superior, y avanzado.

A cada nivel los estudiantes:

• Reciben una base firme en gramática inglesa.
• Aprenden a comunicarse y expresarse en el campo académico o profesional.
• Desarrollan y practican las técnicas para la comunicación oral efectiva.
• Mejoran las destrezas aurales usando una variedad de material audio-visual auténtico.
• Aprenden las destrezas escritas tales como tomar apuntes, hacer resúmenes, escribir cartas de negocios, y preparar otros documentos importantes.

Los Programas Especiales

La Destreza de Hablar y Conversar - Forma y mejora la habilidad de comunicarse efectivamente en una variedad de situaciones.

Certificados

Todos los estudiantes de ANGELS reciben los certificados de participación siempre que hayan completado exitosamente el curso. Los certificados indican la duración y el nivel del curso, y la nota obtenida.

Student Activities

Studying a language does not only involve attending class, preparing assignments, and doing homework. An integral part of the learning experience is being exposed to language in real, meaningful contexts. Since Port-of-Spain is a hub of excitement, there is never a dull moment and there is always something to do. Students can choose from an array of activities, from hiking to Maracas waterfall on a crisp Sunday morning, to enjoying the scintillating night sounds of pan on the promenade. At ANGELS Academy we ensure that students have the opportunity to interact with native-English speakers out of the classroom. Some of our past interactive activities have included visits to Angostura, Petrotrin, BWIA, Maracas Beach, Matura, Cleaver Woods, Asa Wright, various mas camps, and panyards. Since students have found these excursions enriching to their study and stay in Trinidad, Angels Academy has made student tours a regular component of our language courses.

Teachers at Angels

Kate Wong, teacher and teacher trainer, has a career in EFL spanning 25 years. Her experience includes (3) three years service in Bordeaux and Paris (France) and (13) thirteen years in Cambridge (England), where she first qualified at Homerton College and later specialized to gain The Royal Society of Arts Diploma in T.E.F.L. A founder member of the Cambridge English Language Teachers' Association, she was involved in pioneering innovative language learning techniques, which now find their place in mainstream E.F.L coursebooks, and professional publications. Currently she trains teachers for the University of the West Indies Diploma in T.E.S.O.L., as well as teaching at Angels. In addition she acts as agent for Pilgrims of Canterbury, Kent. katewong@angelsacademy.com

Cynthia Carrington, a special honours graduate in English (UWI, Mona, Jamaica) is also specialized in Educational Administration, and holds The University of the West Indies Diploma in T.E.S.O.L . A former secondary school principal, she has invaluable experience in teaching English, and in organizing educational exchange programmes. She firmly believes in integrating learning with a knowledge of the host culture, and in involving students in extra-curricular pursuits.

About us

ANGELS Academy is dedicated to providing quality education in English as a Foreign Language. At ANGELS classes are conducted in small groups (8-10 students) so that each student can receive the attention and instruction needed. A communicative, multi-syllabus approach is used to maximise learning. In addition, courses are designed and adapted depending on student needs.

Courses in English

ANGELS offers four levels of English: elementary, intermediate, upper intermediate, and advanced.

At each level students:

• Receive a sound foundation in English grammar.
  
• Learn how to communicate and express themselves for academic and/or professional purposes.
• Develop and practise techniques for effective oral communication.
• Improve listening skills using a variety of recorded, audio-visual, and authentic spoken materials.
• Learn written skills such as note-taking, summarizing, business letter writing, and preparing other important documents.

Special Courses

Speaking Skills and Conversation -- Develops the ability of the student to communicate effectively in a wide variety of situations.

ANGELS Certificates

Certificates of Proficiency are granted to all ANGELS students, upon successful completion of their course. Certificates state the length and level of the course, and the grade attained.
